The advent tradition of a Jesse tree helps us connect the custom of decorating a Christmas tree to the events of salvation history leading up to the birth of Jesus on Christmas.  It gets its name from the passage in Isaiah 11:1: “A shoot shall come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.” Jesse was the father of King David.

These handmade ornaments are original watercolor images printed on  high quality waterproof paper attached on a wood ornament with a twine hanger.  They come with a longer write up on the history of the Jesse Tree, as well as suggested readings for each ornament to help you enter into the season of Advent even more.   While there are many formats for Jesse Tree ornaments and readings, the vast majority are largely similar.  This particular set follows the four-week season of advent (rather than just the 25 calendar days of December leading up to Christmas), each week with a focus. Naturally, this format gives you a few more ornaments than you may have days for.  In a year when Christmas falls early in the fourth week of Advent, consider combining a day or two in the last week(s).  The ornaments of the last week in particular have shorter readings than several of the first.

Items will usually ship within 2 business days after purchase. Custom orders or high volume seasons may affect this.
