I designed this pattern when a friend asked me to knit some bags to sell at the local farmer’s market. As I looked through patterns, none were quite right. I wanted something easy, no lace patterns to keep track of, yet still cute and functional. This bag is the result. It has a base for greater capacity and is knit entirely in garter stitch. By changing to a larger needle size an openwork feel is achieved without any difficult lace patterns. It is seamless, except for a small strap seam at the top. It would be good for an advanced beginner, but still fun for an experienced knitter.

This has led her to design patterns that are interesting to knit but are also easy to memorize and “read”, in the case of one of those all-to-frequent interruptions.

Needles: US 6 and US 13: circular, 24”
Yarn: Knit Picks Dishie: Honeydew, 2 balls
Notions: Stitch holder or scrap yarn, extra US 6 needle for three needle bind off (optional), stitch marker, yarn needle
Gauge: Not important for this project.
Finished Size: Approx. 17” wide when laid flat. Approx. 24.5” long, including handle.
